Selling on Etsy

Ok, so back in the day, around 2006, I started selling on Etsy and it was pretty easy. I would post something and not even use tags, didn't know what SEO was, named my jewelry and used quotes in my descriptions. I didn't think that much about it and I have to tell you, it was pretty fun and there was a real sense of camaraderie on Etsy. Now? OMG, it's not that easy anymore, that's for sure. One of my facebook friend's status updates was that Etsy was overwhelming, she just gave up. Ok, I sell there and yah, it is overwhelming to me too and some days I just give up too. There are so many cool things, so many options and really amazingly talented artists, but there is some pretty horrible shit you have to wade through to get there. My Christmas selling is usually pretty good, at least I make enough to buy my peeps some cool, handmade gifts, but this year it's been a bit...um...slooooow.

I'm not going to let it get me down though, I'm still making some killer jewelry, taking new photos and re-doing my tags, blah blah blah, but GIRL, it better pick up or, well, I don't know. I've thought about selling on other sites (they aren't as good as Etsy), doing craft shows (I'd rather stab myself in the eye), consignment (too much risk for my taste), or walking through downtown naked wearing only my be-dazzles. The last option seems the most likely, so careful if you're tooling through downtown Madison looking at Christmas lights and you happen to notice me "alfredo" causing a bead ruckus!

I did get a new dress form and re-took photos of my necklaces, then renewed all this stuff on Etsy. Look how cool she is! (Although one of her boobs is sort of weird, I have to photoshop it a bit. Reminds me of one of my old barbies that had a mushed in boob for some reason...aka my brother and his twisted psycho friends).

  1. Love the new dress form! It really helps the customers to see how it hangs on a humanoid figure. Your stuff is so colorful and fantastic and unique - I'm glad you aren't giving up. :)
